21_21 DESIGN SIGHT Gallery "Mechanical Wonders"

Watches and automatas that move the spring as a heart will weather over time and eventually stop moving. The collection left by Maurice-Eve Sand, a collection of mechanical artworks at the end of the 19th century, has been restored and preserved by the restorer Michel Parmijani. By being restored, the work is given eternal life. It is the 40th anniversary of Michel Parmigiani's encounter with the Sand Family Foundation. In this exhibition, we will exhibit valuable works from a collection in Switzerland for the first time in Japan under the theme of what is restoration work. While clarifying what the other side of the story is going to be and what process it will be repaired in, we will see the miracle of reviving using the materials and techniques of the time when the artist was produced, respecting the author's intentions.
