Panasonic Shiodome Museum of Art "Belle Époque: A Beautiful Era: Artists Gathered in Paris: Focusing on the Wiseman and Michael Collections"

From the end of the 19th century to around 1914, Paris was at its most artistically glamorous period, the Belle Époque. This exhibition is a multi-layered introduction to the culture that flourished in various genres such as art, crafts, theater, music, literature, fashion, and science in the period from the Belle Époque to the 1930s.

At the venue, posters by Toulouse=Lautrec and Jules Chéret, clothes and trinkets worn by the bourgeois of the time, crafts by Émile Gallet and René Lalique, as well as correspondence and rare books that show the interaction between artists, are lined up in a variety of fields that vividly convey the prosperity and vitality of Paris at that time. In particular, the collection of paintings by David E. Wiseman and Jacqueline E. Michael, which form the core of the exhibition, is a gem of a group of works that strongly reflects the world of Montmartre in the past. Please also pay attention to the collection, which will be exhibited for the first time in Japan.
