Roppongi Crossing 2025 Exhibition: Time Passes, We Are Eternal
"Roppongi Crossing" is a series of exhibitions that the Mori Art Museum has held in a co-curated format since 2004 as a fixed-point observational exhibition that provides an overview of Japan's contemporary art scene once every three years. In this eighth edition, in addition to the curators of the Mori Art Museum, we will welcome two international guest curators from Asia to introduce a total of 21 artists who are active in Japan regardless of nationality, or who have roots in Japan and are active overseas, under the theme of "time".
Exhibited works include paintings, sculptures, videos, crafts, handicrafts, ZINEs, and even community projects. A.A.Murakami's immersive installations have transcended the realms of architecture and design and have attracted high international attention. Takuro Kuwata's large-scale ceramic works with bright colors that exude overwhelming beauty in collaboration with overseas maisons. Mihiro Hosoi's new sound piece, which uses his own voice and environmental sounds to create works, and also works on stage works. In recent years, Junko Oki, who has gained a high reputation both domestically and internationally, will present more than 100 diverse and diverse expressions, including abstract painting-like embroidery works created from delicate handicrafts.
The subtitle of this exhibition, "Time Passes, We Are Eternal," shows the preciousness and fragility of time. Through the intersection of various times that appear in each work, we will re-examine Japan art from multiple perspectives.
