Okura Shukokan Special Exhibition "Victorian Jewelry of Love: A Splendid British Lifestyle"

In 1837, a young woman at the age of 18 succeeded to the throne of the British Empire, ushering in a period of great glory. Queen Victoria (reigned 1837~1901) reigned for 64 years during this period of prosperity. Britain during this period, which built colonies all over the world and was called the "Empire that never sets" due to its overwhelming industrial and military power, is called the Victorian era. 　This exhibition introduces the glamorous and elegant world of dresses, lace, silverware, etc. that colored the lifestyle of the British upper class, focusing on European antique jewelry that attracted many people, including jewelry related to the British royal family and the capitalist class that was emerging at that time, during the reign of Queen Victoria, when the British Empire was the most prosperous.
