Minato Science Museum 2023 Winter Special Exhibition "Evolving!? Dinosaur Research Exhibition"
With the development of science and technology, new facts about dinosaurs are being published one after another. In this special exhibition, we will introduce "new science and technology related to dinosaur research" that is rarely seen, including fossil replicas. Here are the four main ones:
(1) "Laser-excited fluorescence method" in which fossils are irradiated with a high-power laser to look at soft tissues
(2) "CT scan" to see the internal structure of a block of fossilized stones
(3) A "3D printer" that enables speedy research by 3D scanning fossils at the excavation site and sending the data.
(4) Scanning electron microscope, which is also used to estimate the color of the body
In addition to exhibiting a full-body skeleton replica of the powerful "Allosaurus", messages from dinosaur researchers, and the forefront of dinosaur research! There is also a reproduction of the fossil excavation site.
