Makeup Culture Gallery Opening Commemorative Talk Event "Makeup Culture Reading from the Image of Women"

In May 2024, the POLA Institute of Culture took the opportunity of its relocation to Aoyama and opened a new dissemination center, the Makeup Culture Gallery. To commemorate the opening, we will hold a talk event "Makeup Culture from the Perspective of Women's Images".
While introducing the makeup behavior, makeup view, and aesthetic sense of female figures depicted in ukiyo-e prints, we will consider the meaning of modern makeup that can be seen from them.
After the talk, we will introduce the activities at the Makeup Culture Gallery. We have prepared an exhibition of hair tying templates and a program that reproduces and experiences the feel of white powder from the Edo period. We look forward to your participation.
