Enjoy a top-notch entertainment experience at “GiGO Roppongi,” the new entertainment hub in the Roppongi area!
A new “playground” has opened in Roppongi, a hub where people from all walks of life—both domestic and international—gather to showcase cutting-edge culture. “GiGO Roppongi,” which held its grand opening on December 11, 2025, is a rare amusement facility in the Roppongi area, spanning four floors from the first to the fourth. In addition to the latest crane games and photo sticker machines, the fourth floor features a dedicated area for poker and darts, serving as a social hub for adults. In this article, we’ll show you how to enjoy “GiGO Roppongi”—a new landmark in Roppongi—alongside Karen Murakami, a student tourism ambassador (MINATO CITY NEXT AMBASSADOR) for the Minato City Tourism Association.
Win Prizes at the Arcade Game Paradise!
"Metro City Roppongi," the building that houses "GiGO Roppongi," is directly connected to Roppongi Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line and the Toei Oedo Line. You can visit without getting wet, even on rainy days. Its stylish exterior, which blends seamlessly into Roppongi’s vibrant scenery, heightens the anticipation for the arcade games.
The first and second floors are dedicated to crane games, where players operate the crane arm to try to win prizes. Nowhere else in the Roppongi area can you enjoy crane games on such a large scale.
The prizes in the crane games set up on the first floor are the “face of the store.” The latest, eye-catching items are lined up in a row to draw the attention of passersby. According to Tomoya Kinoshita, the manager of “GiGO Roppongi,” the most important things in crane games are “perseverance and staying calm to aim carefully.” It’s easy to get carried away, but taking a deep breath and carefully observing the prize’s position is the quickest way to win.
Given Roppongi’s location, you’ll see foreign tourists inside the venue. There are currency exchange machines on the floor, so visitors from overseas can enjoy themselves without any hassle.
When you go up to the second floor, you'll find an even more diverse selection of prizes. The wide variety ranges from figurines that evoke Japanese anime culture to cute plush toys you'll want to hug.
In addition, there are “GiGO-exclusive prizes” available only at GiGO stores. Of particular note is the collaboration with “COIN PARKING DELIVERY,” a masked contemporary artist who enjoys immense popularity among Gen Z. Be sure to check out the stainless steel tumblers, cushions, and keychains featuring characters from their unique universe (*Please note that these items may no longer be available when you visit).
"If you can't seem to win a prize no matter how many times you try... please don't hesitate to ask a staff member for help," says Store Manager Kinoshita. "We'll be happy to explain the tricks of the trade and offer assistance." By scanning the "Call Us via Digichime" QR codes located throughout the store, you can quickly summon a staff member even in the spacious main area, so beginners can feel at ease.
Stunning Artwork and the Preservation of Tradition
What really stands out at “GiGO Roppongi” is its interior design. As you begin to climb the staircase leading from the second to the third floor, a “painting of a waterfall”—standing approximately 6 meters tall—immediately catches your eye. It is a reinterpretation of the backdrop from the Kabuki masterpiece *Nihon Furisode Hajime*, and it masterfully depicts the water cascading down with a thunderous roar and the vibrant spray rising from it, brimming with vitality.
In addition, the walls on the first floor feature “matsubame” panels, a design familiar from Kabuki and Noh stages. The design was created by “CHIKIRI PROJECT,” an art initiative that elevates traditional craftsmanship into contemporary spaces, while production was handled by “Kanai Daidogu,” a professional stage design collective with a 140-year history. Following the “GiGO Main Store” and the “GiGO Osaka Dotonbori Main Store,” “GiGO Roppongi” represents the third such initiative in Japan to showcase traditional Japanese culture.
Have Fun with Sticker Sheets and Rhythm Games
The third floor is a lively area featuring photo booth machines, music games, and more. The photo booth section is fully stocked with the latest popular models, offering a lineup that will satisfy everyone—whether you prefer a dramatic look or a natural finish.
What caught Ms. Murakami’s attention here was the dressing area set up next to the photo booth. “Being able to fix my bangs and touch up my makeup before the shoot is such a treat for girls!” she raved. It’s equipped not only with a large mirror but even a hair straightener, so you can look your best for the shoot.
Since it’s one of the few photo booth machines in the Roppongi area, it’s said that middle and high school students, as well as students from nearby vocational schools, often visit in the afternoons.
During last year’s holiday lighting season, the photo booth area became so popular that lines formed with people looking to create memories. Store Manager Kinoshita shared his thoughts, saying, “When I see students in their school uniforms laughing and having fun, I truly feel that it was the right decision to open this place in Roppongi.”
In addition to the print-and-stick stickers, the third floor is packed with exciting games. The classic rhythm game “Taiko no Tatsujin” is perfect for blowing off steam.
Other attractions include “TO THA NET,” a basketball game that supports simultaneous play for up to 16 players, and “BreakingDown Hard Puncher ARCADE,” a punching machine created through a collaboration between “GiGO” and “BreakingDown” that fighting game fans will love.
Have a blast playing poker and darts at a sophisticated social venue!
In stark contrast to the bustling atmosphere downstairs, the fourth floor is a chic, open space designed for adults. It is a dedicated floor housing “GiGO POKER”—our second location following Shinjuku—and “GiGO DARTS,” which features the latest machines.
The appeal of this floor is that it allows you to casually and safely enjoy poker—a game that has recently become a global sensation—as a form of entertainment. Even beginners and women can try their hand at poker without feeling self-conscious.
With staff members acting as dealers and leading the game alongside other players, this format naturally fosters communication among participants. Staff members are happy to explain the rules to first-time players, so you don’t need much prior knowledge to join in. Starting at 3,300 yen—which includes the entry fee and 250 chips—you can experience the atmosphere of a real casino.
This time, Mr. Murakami also tried his hand at poker for the first time. He played a variant called “Texas Hold’em,” in which players compete against each other. In this game, players combine the cards dealt to them with the community cards on the table to form the strongest hand. While simple, it’s highly strategic, and Mr. Murakami’s eyes sparkled as he said, “I can’t help but get really into it!”
The menu features a wide selection of alcoholic beverages and food, and you can easily place orders through the app. Enjoying a game of poker with a drink in hand is truly a unique, adult experience. Of course, you can’t cash out your chips, but you can save any chips you’ve won for your next visit.
The darts area on the same floor features five state-of-the-art machines. Whether you’re practicing intently on your own or having a lively time with friends, you can enjoy a luxurious experience in your own way.
The fourth floor is most lively around 4:00 p.m. and in the evening, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. In addition to tourists, there are reportedly many regulars who are foreigners living or working in the area. During the day, on the other hand, you can see Japanese couples and families relaxing and enjoying themselves.
With the casual appeal of games starting at just 100 yen alongside authentic entertainment like poker and darts, this building is truly Roppongi’s entertainment hub. In fact, it’s been quite a while since a large-scale arcade made a comeback in Roppongi. For those who used to hang out here back in the day, “GiGO Roppongi” evokes a sense of nostalgia, while for today’s youth and tourists, it’s a place brimming with new excitement. It’s the perfect spot to create memories with loved ones between shopping and sightseeing, or even when you want to focus and recharge on your own. Next time you’re in Roppongi, why not stop by “GiGO Roppongi” to discover a whole new way to have fun?
