Izumiya Hakukokan Branch "Kinbun- Ancient Chinese Characters"
Period: Nov 9, 2019 - Dec 20
Add to MyRoute
During the shoshu period 3,000 years ago, bronzeware with various shapes was actively produced, but ancient characters were cast on the surface. Chinese ancient characters, known as gold sentences, were not "written" on a plane, but were three-dimensionally "built" by casting techniques. In this exhibition, we will introduce the world of letters and gold sentences expressed in bronzeware, and by exhibiting the restored casting replica and its mold, we will convey the characters as casting techniques in an easy-to-understand manner.
