Panasonic Shiodome Museum of Art "Odilon Redon: Dreams of Light, Brilliance of Shadows"
Odilon Redon (1840-1916) was a French painter who was active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Redon's dreamlike world, which contains the brilliance created by light and shadow, transcends time and region, and still attracts many people today. In Japan, Redon's works and art were introduced during his lifetime, and continue to inspire him in a wide range of fields such as art, literature, music, and manga to the present day.
This exhibition features approximately 110 works from the collection of the Gifu Prefectural Museum of Art, one of the world's leading museums, as well as masterpieces from Japan and abroad, to give visitors a complete picture of Redon's rich painting career. Caught between tradition and innovation, we will introduce how Redon, a master of modern art, builds his own unique expression.
