"Yakiimo Plaza," an event where you can enjoy gourmet dishes and sweets featuring fall flavors such as sweet potatoes and chestnuts, will be held at the Central Plaza in Azabudai Hills from Friday, October 23, through Sunday, October 25.

“Yakiimo Plaza” is a popular event that brings together the flavors of fall, including delicious roasted sweet potatoes, sweet potato desserts, roasted chestnuts, and Mont Blancs.
This year, a total of 14 vendors will be on hand, including 12 specialty sweet potato shops and 2 specialty chestnut shops. Four of these sweet potato specialty shops will be making their debut at the event. “Imo Yasu,” a long-established shop founded in 2005, selects sweet potatoes from various regions—primarily Ibaraki—and offers a wide variety of items, including roasted sweet potatoes, dried sweet potatoes, and sweet potato desserts. Additionally, “Owari Imoya Imokichi,” which won the championship at the 2026 National Baked Sweet Potato Grand Prix and took home awards in three categories, will be among the first-time participants—all shops with a deep passion for sweet potatoes. The event will feature a selection of each shop’s signature roasted sweet potatoes and sweet potato desserts.
Also, continuing from last year, “Kurinoshi Kasama,” from Kasama City in Ibaraki Prefecture—a renowned region for chestnuts—will offer an exquisite Mont Blanc made by piping the mixture into ultra-thin 0.5-millimeter layers to further enhance the chestnut’s aroma and create a melt-in-your-mouth texture. At the “Kasama Chestnuts” booth, you can enjoy freshly roasted, piping-hot, aromatic chestnuts prepared right before your eyes.

Furthermore, starting at 3:00 PM each day during the event, a bonfire will be set up in the Central Plaza. In addition to live music performances where you can enjoy live music while gathered around the bonfire, the plaza will be decorated with pumpkins, allowing you to fully savor autumn delicacies such as sweet potatoes and chestnuts amid a quintessentially autumnal atmosphere.
