Toraya Akasaka Gallery Special Exhibition "Paris where Japanese sweets meet"

Forty-five years ago, in 1980, Toraya opened a store in Paris with the desire to introduce Japan culture overseas through Japanese sweets.
In the beginning, little was known about Japan, and some people mistook yokan for black soap due to cultural differences, but now many of the customers who come are local French people.
In this exhibition, we will look back on the history of the Paris store and introduce the various initiatives that have been made to convey Japanese sweets to the world.
In addition, Japan and France are countries with completely different climates and histories, but they have in common that their own confectionery cultures were born and blossomed. By comparing the history of Japanese and French confectionery and event confectionery, you can enjoy discovering the differences between them and surprising similarities.
