Odaiba has everything you need for fun, but did you know that there are actually many popular spots for BBQ where you can enjoy the feeling of glamping while gazing at the ocean view? This time, we went to "THE BBQ BEACH in AQUA CITY ODAIBA," one of the most popular BBQ spots in Odaiba, to experience an "empty-handed" zero-prepared barbecue.

With summer approaching, the sea breeze is becoming more and more pleasant in the Odaiba area. While commercial facilities are concentrated here, there is also a lot of nature and beaches, making it a perfect environment for barbecues. However, as a general rule, the use of fire is prohibited in Odaiba Kaihin Park and other public facilities, and it is a little difficult to bring all sorts of things to Odaiba... For this reason, we recommend barbecue spots set up on the terraces of commercial facilities.

THE BBQ BEACH in AQUA CITY ODAIBA, which we visited this time, is a barbecue space on the 7th-floor rooftop of Aqua City Odaiba. The terrace restaurant with a view of Tokyo Bay is popular in Aqua City Odaiba, and it is also a good observation spot with a great view from the upper floors.

After enjoying sightseeing such as Odaiba Beach in the morning, take the elevator to the 7th floor of Aqua City Odaiba. When the doors open, you will see a terrace facing the ocean!

The place is designed in the image of "luxury" with a chic interior and spacious sofas where you can take off your shoes and relax. There are a variety of seating options, including sofa seats for two that are perfect for couples and sofa seats for 10 that can be used spaciously by a family. Of course, every seat offers a perfect view of the scenery. Before guests arrive, the restaurant is thoroughly disinfected by wiping the area with a cloth, and alcohol is used to disinfect the hands at the reception desk, thus providing infection prevention.

What is even better during this season is that the entire area is covered with a roof. Even if the weather is unstable, there is no problem, and even if you are concerned about sunburn or ultraviolet rays, you do not have to worry about being directly exposed to the piercing sunlight. On the other hand, a large "AQUA CITY ODAIBA" sign is overhead in the back. Behind it is a higher-than-usual view of the spherical observation deck of Fuji Television's headquarters building, which also offers a special Odaiba-like view. Also on the same floor is the "Aqua City Odaiba Shrine," enshrining the spirit of the Shiba Daijingu Shrine.

If you stand in the seats, you can have a better ocean view of Tokyo Bay and central Tokyo. With the majestic Rainbow Bridge in the center, the skyscrapers of Shinbashi and Takeshiba on the right, and the Tokyo Tower and the warehouse district of Hinode in front.

Near the Tokyo Tower, the "tallest building in Japan" currently under construction in Toranomon can also be seen. On a clear day, you can even see the majestic Mt. Fuji. Airplanes heading to Haneda Airport fly over the sky, and many high-speed boats and water buses come and go on the bay where Shinagawa Daiba, the origin of the word "Odaiba," is located. The panoramic view is as beautiful as a postcard.

This time, as an "empty-handed barbecue," the restaurant took care of all the preparations, including food, drinks, cooking utensils, tableware, aluminum foil, and plastic wrap, with the "Empty-handed BBQ Plan." It is really easy to come empty-handed and start barbecuing. Seasonings and disposable tableware are provided at each table, and knives and cutting boards can be used in the common area. The restaurant will also clean up the trash after you are done eating, so there is nothing to take home, and you can go shopping and do other activities right after your meal.

And for a delicious barbecue, the gas grill from Weber, an American grill brand that is very popular among camping enthusiasts, will play a major role. The grill, which can be set to a maximum temperature of 300°C, can distribute heat evenly throughout the entire area in a short time without having to make detailed temperature adjustments. It is a very strong ally that can cook thickly sliced meats to a crispy outside and soft and juicy inside in just a few minutes.

Before starting, the staff will give you detailed instructions on how to use the grill, and there are instructions on each seat on how to grill each ingredient, so even beginners who do not usually cook much have nothing to worry about. This time, we enjoyed a family barbecue with the "American Grill Set" (2,838 yen for two people) and the "Kids Grill Set" (1,078 yen for one person), for which we had made reservations. The generous portions of food were quickly placed on the grill.

The savory aroma from the grill stimulated our appetites, and we waited for just a few minutes. When I opened the lid, I was a little nervous about whether the food was cooked well or not, but the meat and vegetables were ready to be eaten. The wild visuals of a BBQ dish were enough to make me hungry...

My children were delighted to taste the thickly sliced steaks in the open-air environment. Vegetables were grilled until golden brown, and the sweetness of the ingredients was soaked up. Even if you have visited Odaiba several times for sightseeing or shopping, a barbecue under the blue sky with a spectacular view will surely be a special and different experience.

Although the theme this time was "empty-handed barbecue," there is actually a "Bring Your Food Plan" that allows you to rent only a barbecue space and equipment, which is also very popular. You can bring your own food and beverages. Some food items can also be ordered on the day of the event without a reservation. One of the secrets of many repeating customers is that they can make arrangements according to their preferences and circumstances, such as bringing in only ingredients and adding all-you-can-drink to the set menu, or ordering a set and bringing in only the items that are missing.

Currently, the restaurant is open in two parts: lunch and dinner on weekdays, and lunch, afternoon, and dinner on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. The daytime view is beautiful, but the evening view, when the sky turns red and the Rainbow Bridge shines at night, is also romantic and moody. You will be impressed by the view at any time of the day.

It is really convenient to enjoy "empty-handed barbecue" at Aqua City Odaiba, which is located right next to Daiba Station on the Yurikamome Line. After dinner, you can visit the Aqua City Odaiba Shrine to pray for your work or studies. I will enjoy a little more Odaiba sightseeing before returning home empty-handed!
