Tokyo City View "Osamu Tezuka Black Jack Exhibition"
2023 marks 50 years since the medical manga Osamu Tezuka's Black Jack appeared.
"Black Jack" is said to have influenced many of the medical professionals who are currently active on the front lines, and the themes and messages contained in it deeply move people's hearts today.
Black Jack, a genius surgeon in black with scars on his face, and Pinoko, a girl he created who is "0 years old at 18 years old". The stories unfolded by powerful characters are set in the world and are spun from many themes, from the lives of humans and living beings to the medical care that saves them, to the way people live as human beings, to the fundamental question of "what is the purpose of doctors in the first place?"
Through the manga "Black Jack," this exhibition fully unravels the appeal of this work, from the secret story of the birth of Osamu Tezuka, to the deep humanism of Osamu Tezuka, and the realistic depiction of medical care that we who have experienced the coronavirus feel novel even now. This is a special exhibition that allows everyone in Japan and overseas, including those who know "Black Jack" deeply and those of the generation who know it for the first time, to fully enjoy the superb view of Tokyo unique to Tokyo City View.
