Matsuoka Museum of Art
At the age of 80, Seijiro decided to establish a museum in 1975 in its own building in Shimbashi, Minato Ward, Tokyo, saying, "Let's open the art that we have collected only for ourselves to the public and enjoy it widely for lovers," and in November 1975, he founded the Matsuoka Museum of Art in its own building in Shimbashi, Minato Ward, Tokyo. Since the collection continued to increase, we planned to build a building in both Tokyo and put a large new art museum in it, but he died in the middle of his ambition. The place chosen by the bereaved family who succeeded the will was the home of Shiroganedai in Minato Ward, which was my favorite. The new museum was completed in April 2000 and has reached the present day.
Note: From Sunday, June 2, 2019, the museum will be closed for a long period of time due to restoration surveys and equipment inspections of the collection's works.
