Shiba Park Hotel "Book Baton Project Social Contribution Connected by Books"
ーWould you like to participate in making a book tree (Christmas tree) with your book? ー
This is a project to collect books that you no longer need and create a book tree (Christmas tree). The hotel staff will make a book tree (Christmas tree) with the collected books brought or sent to you and install them in the library lounge in the hotel during the Christmas period. After the Christmas period, we will donate to Room to Read Japan, a certified non-profit organization, to help educate children living in historically low-income areas.
The Library Hotel has a space surrounded by books. There are book collections throughout the hotel, providing a relaxing environment for book lovers. For such book lovers, we have prepared a participatory project that allows you to contribute to society through books.
ーHow do I donate books? ー
Q. Can I donate any type of book?
A. Books with an ISBN (13-digit code provided for material identification) are eligible. If there is no tear or dirt on the cover or contents, we collect even those without a cover or band. However, even if it has an ISBN, magazines, encyclopedias, and convenience comics are not eligible.
Q. How long can I donate?
A. We will be recruiting from October 12th (Wed) ~ November 12th (Sat).
Q. Can I donate without staying at a hotel?
A. Even if you do not stay at the hotel, anyone who uses the hotel can donate.
Q. How many books can I donate?
A. You can donate even one book.
Q. How do I deliver books to the hotel?
A. Please bring it directly to the hotel and ask the staff or mail it to the hotel (shipping fee will be borne by the customer).

Q. What happens after I donate a book?
A. The hotel will go to Value Books Co., Ltd. for a purchase appraisal. After that, the assessed amount will be donated to Room to Read Japan, a non-profit organization, and the entire amount will be used for the education of children in Asia and Africa. For example, if we donate a total of 1.000 yen through books, it is equivalent to support 10 children's books written in the local language.
Q. When and where can I see the completed Book Tree?
A. It will be exhibited at the Library Lounge on the 1st floor of the museum from November 22, 2022 (Tue.) ~ January 9, 2023 (Mon.). After the Christmas period, the Christmas tree is changed to New Year's decorations. Anyone can see it, so please stop by.
